Using kizoa

Using kizoa is very simple again you just make an account on kizoa, you then click on what you want to do in my case it was create a slide show you then upload all the photos, once all the photos have uploaded you can them drag them into the film scroll at the bottom and make your own slideshow and put them in the order you want.

you can then add any text or anything you would like to the image.  You can also change the duration of how long the image will play for in settings.
Once you have done all this you simply share the slideshow and copy and past the embed code into the html part of your blog and the slide show will automatically play on your blog flicking through the images you have chosen, therefore it is a good way to show large amounts of images.

My audience feedback

I videoed my target audience giving their feedback on my two drafts of my magazine to help me improve my magazine.
Key points I found on how to improve my magazine after my focus group:

  • use the contents page with numbers- makes it clearer
  • layout for the contents page for draft 2 is better
  • flannel panel is a good idea to relate to my younger audience
  • people of their age (my target audience age) said they would buy the magazine, it appeals to their age group.
  • my focus group also said that the colours and images used are appropriate for the age of my target audience and the gender on both covers, contents pages and double page spreads.
  • They also said they liked how I used black and white colours front my 1st draft but preferred the actual image on my second draft.
  • When looking at the mastheads they preferred the 'modern' part of draft 1 and the 'dated' idea from draft 2
  • Using young artists my audience felt drew in the target audience age I wanted as it was relatable to them
  • The front cover is attractive and the poses on both draw in the reader
  • The colours work well as they stick out from a far away and are easy to read.
  • White background works better
  • Masthead represents my genre well, it is clear of my genre.
  • Font on contents page is better on draft 2 as font it more clear and more sophisticated appropriate for that age group
  • Good housestyle the colours go together well and the magazine flows nicely and each folio looks like it belongs together
  • Contents page fulfils its purpose things are easy to find.
  • Websites on the flannel panel are popular amongst their age group and are therefore appropriate for my magazine
  • Images on the front cover and contents page and double page spread are appropriate.
  • All folios represent my genre well.
  • Colours work well together as the red against neutral colours make things stand out.
  • On double page spread, my audience prefer how i used individual images in my text in draft 2 but like the main image used in draft 1.
  • On the double page spread the font on draft 2 is more clear so is preferable.
  • double page spread, they prefer the layout on draft 2
  • Pull quote and standfirst would intrigue them to read the magazine
  • The use of drop caps makes it look professional
  • The clothing and the artists themselves would attract my target audience
I will include all the key points and feedback I have received from my focus group in my final piece. I will take the good point from each draft and combine the good points as well as adding new elements and conventions to improve and create a final product that my target audience would really want to buy, which I can do now I know not only what they want in the magazine but I also know what they do like and don't like in the actual production.

My first draft of my music magazine- Issuu

11th of February 2014,

11th of February 2014,

Today I used a brand new software called Issuu to present my 1st draft of my magazine. This was a brand new software to me but I liked it as it let me view it like an actual online magazine.

The first use of technology- Issuu

Issuu was quite awkward to use, to start of with I had to first save my photoshop work as a JPEG, I then had to export my work on Indesign to be a JPEG also. After this I inserted the images into a word document and left a page between the contents page and the front cover as page 2 is the typical position for an advert.

Once saved in word I then had to convert this to a PDF file, finally once it was converted to a PDF file I could upload it to Issuu where it converted my work into a online like magazine.
Upload it.

Publish it.

View  it like a magazine

Finally get the embedded link and embed it on my blog.

7th of Febuary 2014,

7th of Febuary 2014,

I have now just about finished two drafts for my music magazine of the front covers, the contents pages and the double page spreads. I am now just tweaking it by looking for things like spelling and just perfecting the product. Although doing two drafts was extremely time consuming I am glad i done it as I can already see a huge improvement from my first draft to my second and can not wait to see my final product, after I have got feedback from my focus group so I can have another perspective of how to improve as well as the hot desking which helped me improve from my draft 1.
